What we do
High school and college students, in every core subject plus economics and business. Statistics is the one subject we leave to others.
Task tracking, time management, organization, and planning, so the week stops running the student.
Counseling, spiritual development, and emotional management, because a student who feels safe can learn.
Teaching materials made for your student and matched to the way they learn.
How we teach
We build trust, through empathy and care, to set the foundation for their academic and career goals. We typically work with a student for three years or more, until they mature and can function on their own.
Our pedagogy
Students learn where formulas and concepts come from, not only how to use them.
Questions set above the level they will be tested at, worked through with the tutor alongside.
Mastery arrives when the student can do it alone, and we keep going until they can.
Most high school courses teach to the middle of Bloom's taxonomy and test one level higher. We teach at the top of it, where students evaluate and create, and build college level critical thinking.
Emotional energy
Most students have more than enough time to do well in school. What runs short is emotional energy. Unless a student loves to learn, school is demanding, and the largest obstacle is anxiety: the fear of failure, rooted in condemning thoughts such as I'm not good enough and I'm not doing enough.
It takes a thought to replace a thought. We help students reframe their identity, separate their sense of worth from their performance, and keep time for the activities that restore them. A reservoir of emotional energy is a key to academic success.

Private slots are limited. New families may begin in our Saturday morning small group until a one on one spot opens.

An executive assistant for school. It gathers every assignment and test from every class onto one calendar, tells the student what to do first each day and how to go about it, and plans the days before every test. Parents see the same calendar from a respectful distance.

An AI powered SAT study companion with adaptive analytics. Practice adjusts to the student, and progress is plain to read for parents and tutor alike.

Partnerships
Parakletos is our AI agent that runs a student's school day, and we want it in the hands of students in impoverished communities, where capable students lack the structure that turns ability into finished work.
We are looking for organizations with the reach and trust we do not have: schools, nonprofits, churches, and community programs. You bring the communities, the devices and connectivity on the ground, and the local language and curriculum. We bring the platform free to every student, absorb the cost of running it, keep the safeguards in place, and stay on the software.
It starts with one site, one cohort, one term, then scales site by site through your network. Students pay nothing, at every phase and at every scale.
The founder
Derek Rolle, Founder & Tutor
Derek grew up in Denver and studied Chemical and Biological Engineering at the University of British Columbia before moving to Seattle to start a practice that nurtures youth academically and psychologically. At his core, he loves unlocking people's potential, both professionally and emotionally, and he devotes his life to the flourishing of the people around him.
He works with more than twenty students, in the Seattle area and abroad, through each school year, and serves as a youth director for nonprofits across the Seattle metro area.
